MISSION

FITS Altavas will serve as venue of effective technology transfer through participatory undertakings creating livelihood and employment oopurtunities through enhanced agricultural productivity and processing

Elevate the economic status to improve the quality of life of marginalized farmers.

HISTORY

 In September 2008, a team from Aklan State University, a partner member agency of DOSt-PCARRD headed by Dr. Anna Mae C. Relingo and WESVARRDEC representative in courtesy call with Mayor Denny D. Refol offered to open a FITS Center in the Municipality of Altavas

A room or center that is safe and strategically located to be manned by the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist was a primary requirement.

The offer was happily accepted by the lGU. However, the big constraints was the dilapidated and usafe building to home the Farmers' Center.

Again the offer was reiterated with the newly elected Lady Mayor, Kathryn B. Refol. The Office of the Municipal Agriculturist was transferred to the vacant and spacious ground floor of the Poblacion Barangay Hall. Maximum requirements in setting up a FITS center were complied with in terms of strtegic location, conducive to technology transfer and desirable looking.

Plans were finalized and preparations were made. On September 18, 2009 at 8:30 A.M., the Blessign and Launching of ALTAVAS FARMERS' INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CENTER was a reality. Prof. Joseph Edward O. Idemne, Consortium Director and Mr.  Nicolas Banquero came over to assist and made the occasion memorable with FITS neighbor, municipal officials and employees.

Farmers were the happiest for it was not only the birth  of FITS but the birth of technologies and linkages too improve their quality of life.
