FITS Center Guimaras

HISTORY


Envisioned to facilitate an effective traansfer of information and technology services in the Province of Guimaras, the Framers Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center or Techno Pinoy sa Guimaras was Launched last October 28, 1998. It was the first FITS Center in Guimaras and belong to the first five FITS Centers in Western Visayas.

The Center was established through a Memorandum of Agreement between the Local Government of Guimaras, Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCARRD) of the Department of Science and technology (DOST) through the Western Visayas Agriculture Resource Research and development consortium (WESVARRDEC). It is one of the technology management services of Techno Gabay Program of PCARRD which also includes Farmer Scientis Bureau (FS) or Magsasakang Siyentista and technology promotion services which is facilitated by the Technology Demonstartion Center (TDC) of the province.

The FITS-Guimaras is also a One-Stop Information Center which facilitates transfer of information and technology services by providing technology information in print, audio/video tapes, production and dissemination of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials, exhibits of new technologies products and services and to improve agriculture productivity and sustain development through technology clinic, technology training, technology advisory and consultancy, linking clients to agricultural experts and financing institutions and technical assistance on enterprise development.

To improve agricultural productivity and sustainability through the services that bridges gap between technologies/information and the farmers, fisherfolks, processors, entrepreneurs and traders.


VISION

New brreed of farmers, fisherfolks, processors, entrepreneurs and traders who do profitable business out of agriculture in a place where there is effective and dynamic access to technology and information services.
