FITS Center Igbaras

HISTORY

     The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCARRD) began setting up a Farmers Information & Technology Services (FITS) Center in 1996 with its various partner consortia around the country. Generally, it aims to serve as a viable tool to facilitate faster access to information to fast track the delivery of services to clients in agriculture, forestry and natural resources.

    A new Farmers' Information & Technology Services (FITS) Center in Igbaras which is considered as a One Stop Information Shop (OSIS) for farmers is situated at the lower ground of the ABC HAll at the Municipal Hall of Igbaras. It was formally launched on October 18, 2007. The event was highlighted with aribbon cutting and blessing of the FITS Center and the signing of the Memorandum of Gareement as witnessed by Dr. Luisa E. Mabunay - UPV Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension & OIC Consortium director of WESVARRDEC, Dr. Glenn D. Aguilar - UPV Cahncellor & RRDCC Chair, Dr. Anna Mae C.  Relingo - Techno Gabay Coordinator, Mayor Jaime E. Esmeralda, M.D., Vice Mayor Jose Edmund Esporas, municipal officials, heads of different agencies, employees of LGU Igbaras and farmers from different barangays.


MISSION

To equip and empower the farmers and other clientele through ready access of information materials and technologies to have an effective and efficient adoption on appropriate  Farming System Technologies in the municipality given consideration for our environment and economic develpment in the long-run.


VISION

We envisioned to serve as a vehicle for farmers to become more productivee and developed in the field of agriculture, fisheries, forestry, environment, an natural resources through rapid information dissemination, technologies transfer and adoption using Information Communication Technology (ICT)
